Dress Code Management Process

Where satisfactory Dress code not being met the following actions may take place:

Step 1

Every time the student arrives in class in unsatisfactory dress, the teacher will discuss concerns with the student and write an infringement notice. The pink and blue copy of the notice should be delivered to Student Services; the blue copy will be forwarded to the advocate.

The student needs to address the situation as soon as possible.

Step 2

Where the teacher, advocate or student services are not satisfied with a student's level of response parent/guardian contact is made by phone.

Step 3

The student's advocate is notified about dress infringements when the blue slips are forwarded to them and should discuss the matter with the student and notify Student Services if there are special circumstances to take into account.

Step 4

A Letter of concern about dress is sent to parents/guardians by Student Development and Support Services after 3 or more infringements unless advocates have made contact.

Step 5

Where the student's level of response is still inappropriate and the student continues to receive infringements, a referral is completed by Student Development and Support Services Officer. The student's Good Standing status is lost and an action plan negotiated and put in place, parents are notified. The student will be required to sign in each day (in appropriate dress code) for 10 College days to resolve the situation before Good Standing can be reinstated.

Step 6

If the student's level of response is still inappropriate the process will be repeated from step 4.

Step 7

Administration is notified of the issue if a satisfactory solution cannot be determined.
